Here are April and her friends at school. They are dressed for Pioneer Days which continues for two weeks.

Found three Ventures records today (thrift store). Right now I’m listening to ‘The Fabulous Ventures’ (ripping it too) hmmm good tunes man.
This has been the week from hell. It seems like everyday it was something new and more delightful. The worst of course being the death of Bradley. The service was yesterday which I was unable to attend. It seems the question of my reliability has been brought up after taking a week off to care for my kids and my wife while she had pneumonia and having to request leave without pay. The service was pretty sad, the kids put moto stickers on the coffin that were handed out at the begining of the service. Veronica was really sad. How do you explain this to an 11 year old? What are you supposed to say? I witnessed two different car accidents, the Schreiber family drama reached a new low, the dog crapped on the carpet and then went ahead and barffed on it too. Lisa lost her (expensive) crown and now needs a root canal and a new crown fitted (more $$). The good news is it’s a three-day-weekend (woohoo) and I got to hear Howard Stern spank a stripper with a big fish this morning which was super funny!
Here’s to a new tomorrow, I hope it is fairly calm. -dp
Here is the Tracy Press article about Bradley Cox, the sixth-grader who died over the weekend in an accident. He was a really cool kid and a good friend of Veronica’s. Lisa and I ran into him in Disneyland last month and just last Friday night Veronica and Bradley and some others buddies were all goofing around at the multicultural fair at South-West Park School. With a heavy heart I make this posting. Rest In Peace little man, my sincere sympathies to his family.

Many of his classmates learned of his death Monday morning.
“It was a huge shock,” said Wes Huffman, Cox’s sixth-grade teacher at Williams, where school officials brought in grief counselors and allowed students to write cards.
“Three hundred of the 600 sixth-graders can tell you a positive Bradley Cox story,” Huffman said. “They only had positive encounters.”
Today Veronica and I went to Paramount’s Great America in Santa Clara after her school band played in a competition in Milpitas. The place was packed with kids from schools all over the central valley and was a district-wide showing for Tracy. It was fun for sure. Veronica and I got to hang out which is rare. We rode The Grizzly, a sort of old school classic roller-coaster. It was all wood framed, kinda harsh. It was a scream! We ate Ice-Cream and popcorn chicken. I had a really nice time with my girl who seems to be growing up so fast. I love you ‘Vernnie, thanks for the great day!

This was in the Tracy Press today, so far today has been pretty normal.
SAGITTARIUS Franz Kafka once wrote that there are some things one can only achieve by a deliberate leap in the opposite direction. You’ll be taking such a leap today.
This site is funny as hell. Check the police logs while you are there too. Hey someone should do one of these for Tracy!
Tony Randall died last night, bummer. I always liked Tony Randall, he seemed like a pretty nice guy. Here is the CNN.com story.

Tonight was the Spring Piano Recital. This was for the students of Natalie Anderson, Veronica and April’s piano teacher. Veronica played “The Entertainer by Scott Joplin and “The Queen’s Royal Entrance”. April played Showboat, By Faber, The Clock Shop and The Juggler also by Faber. They both sounded so good, I was mighty impressed!

I had a dream about my dog last nite. She was riding in my truck in the front giving me advice about life and such. She said “dave, build yourself a bridge and get over it”.

Been reading Cold Mountain. What a great story. I never saw it in the theaters so I decided to read it before it comes out on DVD (it’s available June 29th). What a great story, I have really been enjoying it. I happen to have the soundtrack and have been playing that on the way to and from work so while I am reading the book the songs are ringing faintly in my head. Salon.com has some of Frazier’s diary that he kept while writing Cold Mountain which makes the story just that much more interesting to me. Cool.
Sigh….
How boring, here are/is the survivor winner(s).

Doooh!
Ok the Survivor final is under way. Here is my official prediction: Rupert.
Tonight was the “Me & My Big Kahuna” father-daughter dance that was sponsored by a local Girl Scout Troup. The theme was Hawaii Sock-Hop, a surf kinda thing I guess. Beach Boys a-plenty! It was fun, I was dancing with April and Veronica at the same time. There was a bunch of dads and their girls, pretty sweet.
Now I’m sick. Bronchitis. They took a chest x-ray because of Lisa having pneumonia just to be safe. Great. I am so tired. (negative on the pneumonia)
Lisa has double pneumonia and is really close to being admitted to the hospital. She needs bed rest and since we have three kids including a two-year-old, looks like I will be missing work for a few days, perhaps all week.
