Got Brakes?

Got the Ranger back, they were able to salvage the rotor and it only set me back a couple hundred, Whew! Nice to have brakes again!

I’m not on that train…

I was walking home from the shop this evening when I had to wait for this train.
On that train..

Look ma, No Brakes!

Well its time to cringe. The brakes in my Ranger are draging metal-to-metal. While its fun driving around trying to not use the brakes, I guess its not too safe! I was going to try to make it till Saturday….so today I’ll leave it with my friends at Cox Tire after work. Hope it’s not too much money! But gotta have brakes!

Happy Saturday!

Today was cool, Veronica, April and I went shopping for gifts for Lisa’s birthday. We ended up getting her a cool bike trailer that she can put Marina in. The Baby seat was too small for her so they have been unable to ride bikes. I think she really liked it, it’s pretty neat and now the girls can ride this summer! WooHoo! Then we all went to the Olive Garden for a big early dinner. Marina was great. She hung in there for a couple of hours while we dinned and enjoyed a really nice evening. Oh yea, we also got her a mosaic tile cutter and a book on creating mosaic’s. She wants to do some mosaic art. While we had mosaic’s on our minds we (me) hung the big fish mosaic that Cliff made way back when. It was above the fireplace in the Schreiber’s house for as long as I have known Lisa and we ended up with it when the estate was split up. It’s cool and looks really good above our fireplace. Thanks Cliff, we think of you everytime we look at it! (I’ll post a pic later, its cool)

Gavin DeGraw

A timely lyrical phrase from Gavin DeGraw, I’m gonna buy this CD man!

I’m surrounded by liars everywhere I turn
I’m surrounded by imposters everywhere I turn
I’m surrounded by identity crisis everywhere I turn
Am I the only one who noticed?
I can’t be the only one who’s learned
I don’t want to be
Anything other than what I’ve been trying to be lately
All I have to do
Is think of me and I have peace of mind

Camp Menzies

Today Veroinca and April and I drove out to Camp Menzies for an open house. They are both going to camp this summer and this is the day for new campers to check the camp out and for parents also to take a look. It was super fun. The road off highway 4 is rough, all dirt with some pretty narley areas which just made the day even more exciting as we 4-wheel-drove through the mountain. The camp sure looks great, I think the girls are really excited, I wish I could go too!! (but I’m a man baby and I look really scarry in a girls-scout uniform hehe)

OK, Johnny has prostate cancer which sucks but he is apparently dealing with it, However RollingStone.com and others were reporting this week that he was in bad shape, nearing death until Kurt Loder stepped in and cleared it all up with the help of Johnnies wife. It seems he is doing better. Cool. Say, did you know that Johnny Ramone is a republican? I met Johnny Ramone in a 7-11 store in San Jose one night after a show they did (which I was at). He was cool, well he said hi anyway. He was buying Ice Cream Sandwiches, it was 2:30 in the morning. We got chips or something hehe (me and my old buddy Scott London).

Remember Frontier Village? We used to go there as kids, great place. It closed in 1980 as Great America took over as king of the amusement park of the south-bay area. Well this is a cool web site that keeps those memories alive, very cool. I want to make a trip down to San Jose and check out the old site which is now a park next to some condos.

Last Day Of School!

Well today is the last day of school for Veronica and April. Everyday this last year I dropped Veronica off at school on my way to work. I really loved having that time with her and I will miss the daily routine. Next year could be completely different in terms of our schedules so I wanted to mark this day and remember the morning drives to school. Here she is getting out of the truck for the last time as a sixth-grader! Sniff..Sniff..

Today was dads-day at April’s school and I spent the day doing gunny sack races and stuff. It was a blast! It was great to spend the day with April and play games and just have fun. The weather was great too. Mid 80’s no wind. Just a beautiful day. :-)

Cunnamulla

I saw this movie on HBO last night. It’s a documentary about Cunnamulla. A small town, a poor town, Cunnamulla is west of Brisbane in “bush” country. It was really interesting. It does make me wonder “where are they now” since it was filmed in 2000 and some of the people profiled in the film had pretty uncertain futures. So what did happen to them? Dennis O’Rourke was the filmmaker, director/producer/writer, he should do a follow-up. I mean what about Marto did he get a band together? Dang, I wonder if they have internet out there in Cunnamulla? Hey Cunnamulla, what up?
