The surgery went well. It was tough getting there because I had to be in Manteca at 6:00am and we needed to get the girls off to school AND Marina has been sick with a nasty cold. As it turns out Marina was up most of the night and we were all pretty much up at 3:30-4 anyway (except Veronica and April who just slept right through the fun) Marina did pretty well in spite of it all. The three of us packed into the ‘burb and headed east for my appointment with Dr. Weiner. Lisa dropped me off and scooted back to Tracy to get the other girls ready and off to school.
Everyone at the hospital was really nice. I was ordered to strip and don the traditional open backed gown. I was naked and alone and pretty much feeling sorry for myself to be honest. I was also feeling nervous and I asked the nurse (Lisa was her name) for something to relax me after all I was minutes away from going under anyway! Nurse Lisa returned with some “vein champagne” as she put it, some “happy juice” for Dave. It worked pretty good too, I was rapidly feeling better. I then met with the anesthesiologist who ordered another round of the “vein champagne” for old Dave. The next thing I knew I was waking up in another room. Getting knocked out like that is so strange. I have been resting since, mostly here on the couch. I have access to my network via an ad-hoc cable run through the wall out to my studio. Good. I can only take so much TV.
