TrekEarth Photograpy site -COOL!

Check it out, I just started my own photo gallery over at a site called TrekEarth. It’s pretty neat, people world-wide can view your photos and make comments and you can do the same for others. I like it so far! I have posted one picture, my first, kinda fun. -dp

Buy or Rent!
I saw took this shot on the way home from the doctor this morning. This in Manteca, close to Lathrop really. BTW, I used the new version of Picasa (Picasa 2) to modify the picture. Very cool software. And it’s free, man I LOVE those Google guys, they rock!

Update

Well I head back to work tomorrow. I can’t take the guilt anymore, we are really busy and other people are doing my work while I lie around with ice between my legs. What can I say, it hurts. This is MY SECOND time around. One of the last things I remember the Dr. saying was he was going to take a good big chunk of vas this time. It feels like he completed his mission. If I can’t hang without pain meds at work I am gonna bail early. I hate pain.

Amtrak Mooning, July 9th

I just saw this on metafilter, its the 26th Annual Mooning of Amtrak. That’s just nutty! So it seems these people have been gathering for this event for 26 years? That just cracks me up! (hehe get it, CRACKS me up?)

Johnny Carson Dies

I just heard that Johnny Carson has died. That’s sad. I remember Johnny Carson for sure. As a kid I watched the Tonight Show with my mom and dad way back in the good old days. I also remember his final show back in 1992.
Hey God…Here’s Johnny!

Johnny Ramone’s gravestone

I saw this over at Boing-Boing, photos of Johnny Ramone’s gravestone. Huh…this makes me feel kinda weird, nice work though. Very real looking.

Honey

This is Honey. My good friend Paul Menard sent me this pic of his dog and her first time in the snow. Paul says she had a blast! I really like this picture, thanks Paul! This was taken somewhere near Groveland, CA. There have been record amounts of snowfall in the Sierra Nevada this year, the last few storms have really packed it in. Man I wish I were up there!

Vein Champagne

The surgery went well. It was tough getting there because I had to be in Manteca at 6:00am and we needed to get the girls off to school AND Marina has been sick with a nasty cold. As it turns out Marina was up most of the night and we were all pretty much up at 3:30-4 anyway (except Veronica and April who just slept right through the fun) Marina did pretty well in spite of it all. The three of us packed into the ‘burb and headed east for my appointment with Dr. Weiner. Lisa dropped me off and scooted back to Tracy to get the other girls ready and off to school.

Everyone at the hospital was really nice. I was ordered to strip and don the traditional open backed gown. I was naked and alone and pretty much feeling sorry for myself to be honest. I was also feeling nervous and I asked the nurse (Lisa was her name) for something to relax me after all I was minutes away from going under anyway! Nurse Lisa returned with some “vein champagne” as she put it, some “happy juice” for Dave. It worked pretty good too, I was rapidly feeling better. I then met with the anesthesiologist who ordered another round of the “vein champagne” for old Dave. The next thing I knew I was waking up in another room. Getting knocked out like that is so strange. I have been resting since, mostly here on the couch. I have access to my network via an ad-hoc cable run through the wall out to my studio. Good. I can only take so much TV.

Surgery for Dave

OK, so this time tomorrow I will be in stitches (literally). I have to report to Doctors Hospital at 6:00am for my scheduled re-sterilization. Dr. Weiner says everything will be just fine.

I’m scared. ;-(

I will post my prognosis just as soon as I can. Pray for me.

Yer Pal, Dave.

Jazzmaster

Here is me in 1978 with my first guitar, a ‘64 Fender Jazmaster, SWEET! (thanks Jim for the pic) My parents gave me this guitar for Christmas in 1978. They bought it from Bruce Ede who was a friend of mine back in the good old Pleasanton days. Bruce was also my first guitar teacher and introduced me to much of the great music that I enjoy today. A few years later I made the stupid mistake of taking it apart and stripping the paint, then painting it myself with spray-paint. Duh. Seemed like a good idea at the time! Anyway, at some point I sold or traded that guitar to Jim Scott and I gave him this picture at the same time. Jim has since had the guitar repainted by someone who knows how to do guitars and put the thing back in working order. I am looking forward to playing it again. I would really like to buy it back, Jim said he would think about it. Hmmm.

FATE. Television DEAD.

As fate would have it our 16 year old Sony Trinitron died today in a puff of smoke. It had that smell of burned electronics and no picture (that was a big clue of it’s death). So now we have a new TV to go with our new DVR. We are so fat!

Comcast DVR

We got us a new Comcast DVR today! It’s so cool! Dual-Tuner, HDTV. Very nice that it’s integrated with the cable-box, we are quite happy!

I just saw this on MetaFilter. This guy Mike is over in Iraq and was killed yesterday when an RPG hit his Humvee. He was keeping a blog over at LiveJournal where you can read his last posts and the comments of friends. This is so sad, I feel really bad for his family.

so i think i might have made a mistake. too many things have entered my mind recently. i don’t know if it’s because i’ve been in 3-4 fire-fights, but i’m realizing some things. i’m not going to go into it, but if you must know, ask and i’ll say what i can. i don’t even know what i’m thinking anymore.

i’m just taking this one day at a time, one mission at a time.

this place sucks.

RIP Brother, thank you.

Where’s Dave?

Right here! OK, here is the update:

  • My second vasectomy is scheduled. Had meeting with Dr. Weiner. Will require hospital, outpatient surgery. I want sedation, no local this and that, wake me up when its done (the horror!)
  • Installed new clothes dryer. New dryer 440 bux, dry clothes…
  • The dog decided to eat the already rain-damaged door to the daveparker.com HQ. So I had to install a new door and all that. A nice new steel door. Take that you dog you.
  • Pretty much a handyman kinda weekend. Pass the beer, where’s the BIGGER hammer?

    RC Aerial Photography

Ever since I was a kid blasting model rockets into the sky I have always wanted to have a camera mounted to see the trip. These guys are doing the same thing with RC planes and digital cameras. This is so cool and just may be a future hobby, where do I start?! Anyway this group of RC aerial photography guys all took photos of their areas on New Year Day. There is even guy from Pleasanton, my old home town!
