California Congressional candidate Paul “Pete” McCloskey is returning a $2,100 campaign contribution from a man investigated for financing al-Qaida and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
That’s nice. But here is the best part…
McCloskey has been involved with Arab-Israeli affairs both as a congressman during the 1970s and early 1980s and later in the administration of George H.W. Bush. His wife was a schoolmate of Queen Noor of Jordan, and McCloskey was a friend of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, the Record reports. In 2004 he wrote an essay for a Beirut newspaper and called Arafat a “great leader.”
