Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
Upgraded the linux system this weekend to the ubuntu distro. I have been running Fedora Core 4 more than a year now. I and mean it has been on for a year (24X7). This system is up all the time and has never even farted for even a second the whole time. Linux just rocks when it comes to reliability. Anyway, I bought a new 500gb disk and figured I would give it a go with the different distro. Give it a try sometime. You download the iso image and burn a CD. Then you boot off the CD and you are running ubuntu and can try it out without even installing it. If you like it just click the install icon and off you go. It was really easy. The linux box is the family iTunes server and we back the other systems in the house to this dude. The web site (daveparker.com) is not run from here however, still using a hosting service. I have been kicking around the idea of running the server from here but I would really need to bump up the feed to the house and that means more dollars. One of these days the delta between the cost of the hosting service and the cost of a T1 to the house will be close enough that I’ll go for it…

Same old BS from the Hollywood left. Down on America, the sky is falling (the religion of global warming) and Ellen (yawn). Was that the best they could do, was there no actual talent available to host the show? Anyway, I did watch the show, and I have to admit I do get caught up in it all. I love movies after all. One of my favorite moments was seeing Jennifer Hudson winning best supporting actress. She is a sweet lady, great singer too. I really like Jennifer, way to go girl!
This morning we attended the dedication ceremony of the new fire station here in Tracy. Here is the new firefighters statue that was also unveiled. It was a really nice morning, a very moving ceremony. The bagpipes playing Amazing Grace while we took a moment to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 trying to rescue others was a very touching moment for me. Then we took a walk through the new fire station, had some cake, looked for the pole (we could not find it, there is an elevator now!) and checked the whole place out. It’s really nice in there! I posted a bunch of pic’s of the ceremony and of the fire station. Check out the Flickr set here.
Here is a nice presentation comparing the Nazi’s to our friends who follow Islam, you know the religion of peace…

And love It's not the easy thing The only baggage That you can bring Not the easy thing The only baggage you can bring Is all that you can't leave behind And if the darkness is to keep us apart And if the daylight feels like it's a long way off And if your glass heart should crack Before the second you turn back Oh no, be strong
Walk on Walk on What you got, they can't steal it No they can't even feel it Walk on Walk on Stay safe tonight You're packing a suitcase for a place None of us has been A place that has to be believed To be seen You could have flown away A singing bird In an open cage Who will only fly Only fly for freedom Walk on Walk on What you got You can't deny it Can't sell it or buy it Walk on Walk on You stay safe tonight
And I know it aches How your heart it breaks You can only take so much Walk on Walk on Home Hard to know what it is If you never had one Home I can't say where it is But I know I'm going Home That's where the heart is And I know it aches And your heart it breaks You can only take so much Walk on Leave it behind You've got to leave it behind All that you fashion All that you make All that you build All that you break All that you measure All that you feel All this you can leave behind All that you reason All that you care It's only time And I'll never fill up all my mind... All that you sense All that you scheme All you dress up And all that you see All you create All that you wreck All that you hate
Hey maybe we can go for Troy Smith! (Troy Smith, Troy Smith!!)
INDIANAPOLIS — The timing, Lane Kiffin said, is purely coincidental. The Raiders said goodbye to Aaron Brooks Thursday just as they were about to get their first up-close-and-personal look at JaMarcus Russell at the NFL scouting combine. More insidebayarea.com

Remember The Outlaws? I always thought the Outlaws were cool and I have, over the years, picked up quite a few of their records (my old friend and fellow record collector Jim always thought this was funny, my southern rock thing hehe). Anyway check out some Outlaws sometime if you are in the mood for some good rockin’ southern style woohoo! Right now I am listening to an Outlaws live CD (Bring It Back Alive), Hurry Sundown… -dp Update: Monte, the drummer, has a blog, Hi Monte!
Here are my mom and dad and today is their wedding anniversary! I have always wondered how anyone can manage getting married on Valentines Day, I guess I’ll have to just ask them sometime! I do know that my dad asked my mom to marry him while they were watching Bambi. I find this way more romantic than say during a monster truck rally or something. Anyway here they are in 1958, Happy Anniversary guys I hope you have a special day.
