The cleaned up version of me!

Yesterday’s pic was a weekend shot and since I have been updating my LinkedIn Profile and thought I might get some new visitors to my site it seemed like I should post an updated, cleaned-up pic of me!

Got a LinkedIn? You should get one, then add me as a contact and we can be like LinkedIn people together! (I really like the LinkedIn thing, pretty cool)

Golden Age Of Radio

Picture they took of you in your cowboy hat
Makes you look like you are one of the boys
Out on a Saturday night, meanwhile on the outskirts of the dance hall
I’m a joke that you’d probably enjoy
On the outside of Memphis all the building look big
And the white picket fences all dare to charge around the lawn
And hold their heads up high when my headlights find them out
They’ll be the first to put their hands in the air with my radio on
Singing a country song soft and low

Oh when I’ve got a worried mind I know
I hear the ghost of Patsy Cline
On the Grand Old Opry Show

Living on the edge of the city limit line
This is where the boundary finally ends
And I swear that we’re the last living souls in a populated ghost town
All the billboards are our best friends
Which way did our last chance go and can we
Get out if we go right now?
It seems that with the malls and the mega-church stadiums
We would get out if we knew just how with the radio on

Standing in line to get my self-help book signed off
On by the reverend who shouts to the converted
Have mercy on this boy he did it all by the book
But still kind of has his doubts
Oh you look pretty good in that jonquil dress
But your smile is a wooden nickel’s pride
and I know that it ain’t worth much but I feels good to touch
And I think that I could dance if I tried with your radio on

Oh when I’ve got a worried mind I know
I hear the ghost of Patsy Cline
On the Grand Old Opry Show

Easter Sunday…

A few more Easter shots, spent the day in San Jose and had a really nice time at my mom and dads house. My sister and her husband Scott were there with their girls, it’s always nice to get together like that. The weather was really nice, sunny and warm in the mid 70’s, just a perfect day. I am a lucky man…

Horton hears The Who

See me, hear me, touch me…Oh wait wrong Who. hehe We didn’t make the opening of the Horton movie, but we did watch the original Dr. Seuss movie Horton Hears A Who from which the new was based. I like the old one better, (though it’s true I haven’t seen the new one yet, but I saw the trailer) it’s more like the book which is one of our favorite Dr. Seuss stories…

Scared At Night

As a child I would wake at night.
I was scared but I kept real quiet.
Shadows on the walls moving in on me…
And underneath my sheets I could barely breathe.
And your room was only just across the hall.
All it would have taken was a single call.
But maybe sometimes we’ve got to trust ourselves not to scream out loud, and run like hell…

Believe me, all our days here are unsure.
Believe in me, I don’t want to anymore.
And in the dark, picture me in your mind.
And I’ll lay with you.
You don’t have to be scared at night.

As a young man you were shooting rats.
By accident you hit the farmyard cat.
He ran for the fields and came back the next day.
You’d blown out his eye and you could see his brain.
That’s it boy, there is some things in life, you don’t want to do, but you know is right.
So take him out back and finish him off. Got your gun off the shelf, it only took one shot.

Believe me, all our days here are unsure.
Believe in me, I don’t want to anymore.
And in the dark, picture me in your mind.
And I’ll lay with you, so you don’t have to be scared at night.

And I flew away and I paid on your final day.
They said that you waited ’til I came.
We sang your favorite hymns and we held your hand.
You took your final breath and that was that.
But I’d never seen a person die before.
I tried so hard not to cry and all…
‘Cause maybe sometimes we’ve got to trust ourselves, that when you die you go some place else.

Believe me, all our days here are unsure.
Believe in me, I don’t want to anymore.
And in the dark, picture me in your mind.
And I’ll lay with you.
You don’t have to be scared at night.
You don’t have to be scared at night.
You don’t have to be scared at night

Cool Art – Grand Theater

I have been thinking about this piece all day, which is, I suppose, the epitomy of good art. That which keeps you thinking about it long after you have viewed it. The thing is with this piece is that not only is it a cool shape – a sinking vortex as if the mushrooms are kicking in, but for me it’s the fact that it’s made from a formica kitchen table and all the cuts are very precise and somehow placed in a way that creates the vortex, I mean have you ever tried to cut formica? I am amazed at this and some of the other really cool pieces that are down there at the Grand. Check it out, pretty neat stuff.
