Day 8, December 26. Friday, originally uploaded by daveparker.

The weight of the world
And the hurt and the dirt
Can make you disturbed
But I heard, but I heard
When I wrap my arms around you
Every mistake we made crumbles
When I wrap my arms around you
Everything echoes a new song

All The Pretty Horses

I really enjoyed The Road, which was the first time I ever read Cormac McCarthy. His unique prose and style drew me right into the story and the characters, I was unable to put it down and devoured the book in more or less one sitting. It was a fathers day gift so I was not really obligated to do much that day. On a warm Sunday in June I plowed through that book. My only disappointment was that it had to end. I was super happy this week when the twice-yearly book sale at work kicked off and one of the first finds was this gem from McCarthy, “All The Pretty Horses”. This is a six for five dollars book sale and I like picking up stuff I don’t know much about and I normally have pretty good luck finding books and writers that I enjoy. I tend to seek out work done by less known writers and enjoy it more that the standard fare of main-stream stuff. Although I knew of McCarthy because of The Road. This book so far is really cool, a western with horses and guns and life in the outdoors, much different than my life in the indoors let me tell you. It seems this is also a movie which I will seek out I guess over the weekend after I finish reading it, nice work, you should read this.

He thought that in the beauty of the world were hid a secret. He thought that the world’s heart beat at some terrible cost and that the world’s pain and its beauty moved in a relationship of diverging equity and that in this headlong deficit the blood of multitudes might ultimately be exacted for the vision of a single flower.

The Girls!, originally uploaded by daveparker.

We had a nice early evening dinner last night at the OG, then went to the mall and looked around. It was nice to be all together, everyone has been so busy lately and we seem to always be going in different directions at once. Thanks for the nice night guys, I really needed it!
